Executive Summary

Prof. Dr. I. Engin Ture is a distinguished physicist and energy technologies expert with an extensive international academic and industrial career spanning over five decades. After completing his military service as a school teacher in 1965, he graduated with high honors from Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Advanced Physics Engineering in 1969. He began his professional career as an expert researcher at the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority and later conducted research at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Between 1977 and 1980, he served as a lecturer at Middle East Technical University before pursuing his doctoral studies at Durham University, where he completed his Ph.D. in applied physics and continued his research work. Prof. Ture subsequently led the Semiconductor Laser Group at General Electric in London and later coordinated university–industry collaboration projects at UMIST Manchester. Upon returning to Turkey in 1990, he became an associate professor and served as a faculty member at Gaziantep University. In 1992, he was appointed Head and founding leader of the Energy Systems Department at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, where he received prestigious Personnel of the Year and Project Achievement Awards. He was promoted to professor at Mimar Sinan University in 1998 and served as Head of the Physics Department while also teaching at Yeditepe and Haliç Universities. Between 2005 and 2008, Prof. Ture held senior leadership roles—Vice President and later President—at the United Nations International Hydrogen Technologies Center. He subsequently served as Rector of Haliç University from 2008 to 2010. Following his retirement, he founded Arentek Energy and Technology and has continued contributing as a consultant to numerous organizations. From 2017 to 2022, he served as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MEF University. Prof. Ture has also held prominent leadership roles, including President of the Chamber of Physics Engineers, Founder and President of the Clean Energy Foundation, and President of the Solar Energy Industrialists Association. He currently works as a consultant at SK Group R&D Technologies Inc. Prof. Ture has authored nearly 100 scientific publications, cited approximately 800 times internationally. He has delivered 37 invited conference lectures across more than 20 countries and participated in over 70 international scientific meetings worldwide.
